Summer Art Booth

Brandy, Robyn and I all got together and set up a booth a couple weeks ago to sell some of our art/jewelry/books. It was a lot of fun and a great experience to see how it all works :) Were planning to do it again on July 8th from 5-8 pm up on Colfax in Denver, between Yosemite and Havana. Come see the event- there will be live music, artists, jewelers, food, face painting and more!

Last year I discovered a fun little way to sell my art. In the art section on Ebay there are hundreds of artists selling miniature 2.5X3.5 paintings and/or prints, called ACEO's, also known as "Art Cards, Editions and Originals". At this point I've only been selling prints of my past illustrations, but I've wanted to do some original work for a while and just haven't... until now-- so here are a few landscapes I did yesterday, and a link to my Ebay Seller Site.

Well, it seems as though the plan didn't go quite as I had imagined it for the published book... I wasn't very happy with the final result of it. In the next month or two I will see what I can do about redesigning the layout and let you know when it's done so you can buy one if your interested.

However, the whole project overall was a great experience and a lot of fun... plus I got to get my new camera out of the deal :) Enjoy the illustrations anyway! (the kangaroo & octopus illustrations aren't finished yet, I will repost them once they are done).

For our final in my Illustration 5 class we were given an assignment to work on for about 1.5 t0 2 hours where we had to compile 3 different black and white images given us (a fish, flowers, and wierd machinery) into an interesting composed and colored illustration. It was fun. This is how it turned out:

Monster Contest

Pixar/Dreamworks had a monster design contest this week to give away two free tickets to their new 'Monsters Vs. Aliens' movie at an imax theater, plus additional prizes. I happened to be one of the three winners! :), The showing we're going to is tomorrow morning, one week before it is released in theaters (so special). This is the monster I submitted:

Experimental Coffee Painting

I did this in Denver with my in-laws. I've heard about painting with coffee, but had never done it till now. I think it's a lot of fun actually, and would love to do a few more to experiment with. It's all pure ground coffee with a little bit of Payne's Grey watercolor for added contrast.
